Geldards Education Team Expands With Senior Associate
Kevin McManamon joins Geldards as a Senior Associate, specialising in Education Law, Court of Protection and Public Law.
He is the only solicitor in the Country to have genuine expertise in special educational needs law, as it applies to the separate jurisdictions in England and Wales combined with Mental Capacity law in both jurisdictions. This unique specialisation means he is particularly sought after in complex special educational needs appeals concerning autism, cerebral palsy and where capacity is in issue. Having headed his previous Firm’s Court of Protection Department he has considerable experience representing the full range of parties before the Court of Protection in contested welfare matters.
With over 15 years’ experience, many of Kevin’s cases are considered leading authorities and have helped to shape the law in his specialist fields.
Partially sighted since birth, Kevin has a genuine appreciation of the difficulties faced by both children and adults with disabilities.
He regularly advises and speaks at national conferences, seminars and charity events. He also contributes to many legal publications and is currently writing for the forthcoming new addition of the Education Law Handbook.
Kevin is an ardent supporter of Liverpool Football Club and has a keen interest in following the Irish Rugby Team. When he gets a quiet moment, he can be found reading crime fiction novels.
On his arrival at Geldards, Kevin, said:
“I am very excited to have joined the Education Team at Geldards. The firm’s strong reputation built on its commitment to private clients, families and businesses is a firm i am very much looking forward to working for. I am looking forward to working with Adam Friel and the Education Law Team.”
Jeff Pearson, CEO of Geldards, said:
“Kevin is a very strong addition to our London office, and I am delighted to welcome him to Geldards. Kevin is a talented and knowledgeable lawyer with an excellent reputation in his field. This addition to the Education Team complements and extends our existing Private Client and Family Law offering and I look forward to its continued growth.”
The team has also been recently strengthened by the addition of Solicitor, Douglas Hamer. Douglas is a specialist Education Solicitor with a particular expertise in special educational needs.
