University Discrimination & Disputes
University is often a key pathway to an individual’s future career and quality of life. Unfortunately, for some students there can be a breakdown in the relationship between them and their university. In these cases, a wrong or unreasonable decision by a university can affect a student’s ability to complete their course and obtain the qualification they deserve.
These decisions should not go unchallenged, our education team has the expertise to potentially overturn such decisions and help students achieve their potential.
Services we provide:
- Advising and conducting internal university appeals
- Advising and bringing complaints regarding the quality of a course, supervision and support as well as the conduct of university staff and other students
- Advising and conducting complaints to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIA)
- Advising and defending students in internal university disciplinary proceedings in cases of:
- Academic misconduct
- Cheating and plagiarism
- Collusion
- Bringing the university into disrepute
- Advising and representing students in internal fitness to practice proceedings
- Advising on potential civil court proceedings
- Advising on potential judicial review proceedings
- Advising on whether a student has been discriminated against because of their disability, race or gender by their university
- Advising on whether any discrimination by a university – due to a student’s disability, race or gender – can be resolved internally through a university’s complaints/appeals process without any further legal action
- Advising and conducting a complaint to the OIA regarding acts of discrimination
- Advising on discrimination claims to the County Court
